CSA 2025 - Week #13 (A)
SEPTEMBER 10, 11 & 12
Matt spent the better part of the day harvesting watermelons with our crew. How do we know when they’re ripe? We look for the stem to easily release from the fruit, for a yellow spot on the bottom, and for a hollow “thump” when tapped with your palm. It’s more of an art than a science, so we hope we got it right! If not, do let us know!

IN THE BOX…
Watermelon
Storage: IN THE FRIDGE!
Green Beans
You can’t find these sweet, tender beans anywhere! (Except in a CSA!) Be sure to not overcook. Steam until just knife tender. We love them simply served with butter and salt.
Storage: In an air-tight bag in the fridge.
Swiss Chard
Storage: In an air-tight bag in the fridge.
Beet Roots (bagged, no greens)
We harvested these roots without the tops this time around, as they didn’t look great from the drought and heat of the summer. Our next round of fall beets will be harvested with their greens!
Storage: In an air-tight bag in the fridge.
Eggplant
Storage: On the counter for a day or so. Eat right away!
Flowering Cauliflower
This is a new variety of summer loving cauliflower. We love it cut into florets and roasted in the oven with garlic and olive oil until tender and slightly brown and caramelized.
Storage: In an air-tight bag in the fridge.
Sungold Cherry Tomatoes
Storage: On the counter.
Zucchini
Storage: In an airtight bag in the fridge.

**The fruit is packaged in paper tote bags inside a cardboard box at the site. If you are not a fruit share member, do not touch the totes!**
IF IT DOES NOT SAY "FRUIT" NEXT TO YOUR NAME ON THE CHECK-IN SHEET, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE A FRUIT TOTE. We only send the exact number of orders to each site. We know that the fruit is tempting and delicious and you can still sign up if you haven't already! info@goldenearthworm.com
If someone else is picking up your share for you, be sure to instruct them on the pick-up protocols. Last year we had a "substitute" pick-up person take an entire box of fruit! It's one tote bag per fruit share membership.
