VEGETABLE STORAGE
Store everything in an airtight container in the fridge…except the tomatoes!
The Tomatoes should remain on the counter and enjoyed when fully deep red (or yellow for the cherries). Don’t refrigerate tomatoes or they will lose all their flavor.
FRUIT SHARE
Paula Red Apples
Soft, sweet-tart flesh. Good for fresh eating and sauces and pies. I particularly love this variety for a comforting pot of homemade applesauce this time of year.
How to store fruit - Store in the fridge.
THIS IS WEEK “A” for bi-weekly members
There was so much to harvest for the shares this week that we couldn’t even fit it in the box! What a bounty! This is September, the season that brings the best crops in from the fields and puts the pressure on those of us in the kitchen. Preserve the harvest while you can… I’m roasting my peppers and freezing them, making batches of homemade tomato sauce (or in a pinch, freezing tomatoes whole) and pickling the green beans.
Happy cooking, friends!
