Notes on the Share

Spaghetti Squash for all!  Our planting yielded much more than expected, so they're making a repeat performance in the shares this week.  Leeks are a fall weather favorite-- delicious braised alone (see recipe below) or in soups.  Some more tender Green Beans and coming up on the last of the Red Tomatoes of the season.  Red Beets or Sweet Dumpling Squash, depending on your pick-up day....(If you didn't get it last week, you'll get it this week!)  And Broccoli or Zucchini, again depending on your pick-up day.

News From the Farm

The beautiful fall weather we have been eagerly waiting for is finally here!  With this dramatic shift in temperatures and cold nights (we expect to hit a low around 46F here tonight) our crops slow down their growth and it takes much longer for things to ripen.

Our massive potato harvest begins this week!  We aim to get everything out of the ground as soon as possible.  So far we've been harvesting sections of plantings by hand, but we'll be using a large potato harvester for the rest.  Photos and more details to come next week.
